A Walk in the Night Sun Book 1
In a sacred West African village 500 years in the future, a young woman seeks answers to her father’s mysterious disappearance, uncovering truths that blur the line between science, spirit, and destiny in this Pan-Afro-Futurist saga.
“Definitely a page-turner — I was absolutely hooked. The world you brought to life felt eerily possible… like I could genuinely see that future unfolding. It was immersive, compelling, and so easy to read. But seriously, that cliffhanger?? I’m already itching for Book Two (and Three)! Can’t wait to revisit this world when the next chapter drops. Loved it! If you’re into speculative fiction with visionary undertones and grounded emotional truth, grab this one.”

I read A Walk in the Night Sun while traveling across Africa, and it moved me deeply. The future it imagines feels grounded in spirit, culture, and dignity, and it stirred something real in me. This book felt like a remembering, not just a story. I highly recommend and can’t wait to read book 2.

A Walk in the Night Sun is one of those rare novels that feels simultaneously ancient and futuristic, grounded and mystical, intimate and epic. From the first chapter, the writing is crisp, confident, and immersive — the kind of storytelling that grabs hold and doesn’t let go. Set in a reimagined future shaped by the legacy of African wisdom traditions, political upheaval, and a fractured United States and world governments, this book weaves together an astonishing array of themes: Afro-futurism, yoga and breathwork, reparations, community organizing, and the profound spiritual technologies of native African peoples. Add in time travel, mysticism, and an exploration of AI that feels both urgent and visionary, and you begin to get a sense of how rich this world truly is. What impressed me most is how seamlessly the author integrates these elements. He doesn’t simply stack ideas on top of a sci-fi plot — he braids them together into a narrative that feels organic, alive, and deeply intentional. Complex issues are explored with clarity and accessibility, without ever sacrificing narrative drive. The characters are wonderfully developed — textured, thoughtful, and human. Their internal journeys are as compelling as the external ones, and I found myself thinking about them long after I finished the final page. The plot moves with purpose, keeping my attention the entire time, and the world-building is both imaginative and resonant. This is Book One, and I’m genuinely eager for Book Two. If the rest of the series continues with this level of depth, creativity, and emotional intelligence, it’s going to be something truly special. A Walk in the Midnight Sun is more than just a sci-fi novel — it’s a visionary meditation on healing, community, possibility, and the future we might still choose to create. Highly recommended.

Inspiration for A Walk in the Night Sun
A little over 15 years ago, I channeled a story centering Black Americans 500 years in the future. I wrote it and published it on my blog at the time. It was called Obsidian Song. About a year and a half ago, it came to my heart to revisit this story — to turn it into a novel and publish it. At the time, I was working on a number of nonfiction books, and as I brought one of those books to a close, I resolved to reimagine Obsidian Song — to develop new and old characters, to build an entire world, and to do so in a way that would expand its reach across more than one book and evolve it to the point where it could be adapted for film. There were two catalysts that prompted me to revisit and reimagine my Afro-Futurist short story from all those years ago. First, I visited my friend on a trip to NY. He had a wall decorated with masks from around the world and asked me to see which one spoke to me. One mask stood out — one I would later find out was connected to my paternal ancestral heritage (Mitsogo, Ateke, Kota, and Fang people of Gabon — shout out to African Ancestry for making this life-changing knowledge possible). My friend then let me borrow one of his favorite books, saying it would change my life. He gave me Of Water and the Spirit by Malidoma Patrice Somé. I read that book from cover to cover multiple times — and my life was indeed changed. Secondly, I did a small ceremony with an ancestral plant medicine — a medicine that, at the time, healed a bout of depression I had been moving through. Shortly after the healing that came from that ceremony, I received my first book deal and gained a deeper confidence as an author in the process. I also want to note that Malidoma Patrice Somé passed away shortly before my first plant medicine ceremony. I hope you enjoy this story that explores African Spirituality, Neuroscience, Mind-Body-Spirit Health, and Pan-African and Afro-Futurist themes. This book is dedicated to the memory of Malidoma Patrice Somé, and I’m excited for you to read it.- Book 1 is out now- Books 2 & 3 Coming Soon to Apple Books and most distributors upon request
Afro Futurist Saga
Nyah and the Solar Being
Excerpt from Book 2
"How can I do all of this?" Nyah asked, overwhelmed. "How can I be enough?"
"Come," the Sun Spirit said, and extended a hand of pure flame that somehow did not burn.
Nyah took it, and suddenly they were no longer in the realm of ancestors but within the Sun itself. She stood at the heart of nuclear fusion, at the solar core and center of the star that gave life to Earth, and somehow she was not destroyed. She was held, cradled in cosmic fire, and she understood something fundamental about her own nature.
She was stronger than she knew. Vaster than she had imagined. Capable of containing trecentillions.

Synopsis of Book 2 In a world shaped by ancestral power, cosmic mystery, and the fragile hopes of a people rebuilding their future, A Walk in the Night Sun: Book Two deepens the epic saga of the Orinyo lineage and the worlds connected to them. As the sacred lands brace against the growing reach of Yadris, new realms open, ancient truths awaken, and the bonds between families are tested across dimensions. Some are called to defend their homeland. Others are pulled into hidden worlds where time moves differently, where divinities walk, and where the nature of reality itself is revealed to be far more fluid, and far more alive, than they ever imagined. In this sweeping continuation, destinies unfold on parallel paths: • A loved one crosses into an otherworldly realm, encountering beings of light, impossible landscapes, and revelations that challenge the very meaning of existence. • A mother carries a child chosen for a purpose older than the villages themselves, guided by ritual, prophecy, and the whispers of the ancestors. • A young leader rises to defend the Sacred Forest, calling a million people into sovereignty as ancient technologies and living earth join to resist domination. • And an unexpected transformation begins in the heart of a healer, rewriting the boundaries between human and divine. Rooted in African futurism, ancestral memory, and cosmic mythology, Book Two expands the universe of A Walk in the Night Sun into a tale of multiversal wonder, resistance, and spiritual becoming. Luminous, immersive, and emotionally charged, it explores what happens when ordinary people step into extraordinary callings, and when love, family, and purpose traverse the thresholds between worlds. A story of epic scale and intimate heart, this novel invites readers deeper into a mythic future shaped by freedom, creation, and the unbreakable ties of lineage.
